Omaha Crimestoppers will hold a news conference to announce a new, enhanced $5,000 reward for tips leading to the arrests of opioid dealers.

The news conference is Wednesday, October 31, at 10 a.m. on the fifth floor of Omaha Police Headquarters, 505 South 15th Street, Omaha, Nebraska.

The Omaha Crimestoppers Board of Directors has voiced concerns about the safety of the public as well as first responders (police, fire, and rescue) who may encounter opioids, particularly fentanyl and the more potent form, carfentanyl.

“I have no doubt the promotion of this new enhanced reward will result in calls to Omaha Crimestoppers about dealers of opioids, including heroin, fentanyl, and carfentanyl,” said     Mark Langan, President of the Omaha Crimestoppers Board of Directors and former Omaha Police Department narcotics investigator.

Special thanks to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Nebraska (BCBSNE) and Kohll’s Pharmacy for helping fund this new reward. These companies realize the significant danger opioid dealers pose to the citizens of Omaha.

The Omaha Crimestoppers Board of Directors appreciates the support for this reward from Nebraska Attorney General Doug Peterson, Douglas County Sheriff Tim Dunning, Douglas County Attorney Don Kleine, Nebraska State Patrol Captain Jason Scott and Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer.

Money talks, especially when offered by Omaha Crimestoppers. Since 2014, the Omaha Police Department has solved more than a dozen homicides based on anonymous tips to Omaha Crimestoppers.

Callers to Omaha Crimestoppers remain TOTALLY ANONYMOUS.

Tips can be called into 402-444-STOP (7867), or by going to www.omahacrimestoppers.org,

P3tips.com or the p3tips mobile app.
