DOUGLAS COUNTY SHERIFF COVID-19 LIMITED SERVICES NOTICE

In an effort to limited exposure to the infectious Covid-19 virus, the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is making the following changes to services offered to the public. Please check the following notice before making plans to visit any of our locations.

• Main Office located at 3601 N. 156^th Street
  • No public fingerprinting services until further notice
  • Applications for handgun purchase permits, along with typed instructions, can be picked up in the lobby vestibule and mailed back along with $5.00 payment – None will be done in person
  • Ride-Along and facility tours will be cancelled until further notice
  • Sex Offender registry is still taking place as scheduled

• Forensic Services Bureau located at 15345 West Maple Road
  • No job shadowing or lab tours until further notice
  • Summer Internships are cancelled

• Title Inspection Division located at 8338 Chicago Street
  • Motorists will be required to stay in their vehicles during inspection services
  • Motorists should only roll their vehicle windows down far enough to pass paperwork and payment to the Vehicle Inspections
  • Credit and debit cards will not be taken until further notice – cash and checks only
  • Dealer site inspections are suspended until further notice

• Court Services
  • All in custody (DCC or DCYC)  defendants who have been quarantined for suspected COVID 19 by order of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention or other foreign or domestic public health officials will not appear in court and will not be transported by the Sheriff’s Office.
  • All in custody defendants who request a continuance, bond review, motion to suppress or any other motion will be excused from appearing personally before the court and will not be transported by the Sheriff’s Office
  • Limitations are being enforced for those allowed to enter a courtroom. 

• Records and Civil Process Divisions located at 1616 Leavenworth Street 
  • Applications for handgun purchase permits, along with typed instructions, can be picked up in the lobby vestibule and mailed back along with $5.00 payment  – None will be done in person
  • Electronic Sex Offender registry is still taking place as scheduled 

• Uniform Patrol Services and 911 Calls for Service
  • The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office will temporarily suspend sending a deputy to every non-emergency call for service. In the meantime, they are setting up a telephone report line to take low-priority calls.
  • Deputies are being instructed to limit their contact with the public. During certain calls for service, the public may be asked to meet the deputy outside of the residence.
  • With the closing of schools for an unknown amount of time, School Resource Officers are being re-assigned to support other mission-critical functions.
