DOMESTIC VIOLENCE COORDINATING COUNCIL NEWS CONFERENCE
Lewis & Clark Landing
June 14, 2006
Sheriff Tim Dunning
Domestic violence is widespread throughout all of Douglas County, both the urban and rural areas.
The Domestic Violence Coordinating Council is a coordinated community response in how all of Douglas County works together. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office has investigated 88 Domestic Violence cases as of May 31st of this year. The Jessica O’Grady Homicide is just one of those cases involving Intimate Relationship Violence.
Throughout all of Douglas County we have served 3,085 of 3,573 Protection Orders that were issued by the courts thus far this year. This is just another example of the importance of having a coordinated effort in combating Domestic Violence.
