For Immediate Release: The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) conducted DUI selective enforcement on St. Patrick’s Day 2012.  The primary focus of the enforcement activity was to arrest drivers who were under the influence of alcohol. The Nebraska Office of Highway Safety (NOHS) provided a maximum of $3,600.00 grant funds for this enforcement effort. During the St. Patrick’s Day selective enforcement, the DCSO compiled the below listed statistics: Traffic Stops –                            30 Written warnings –                       3 Verbal warnings –                        16 Misdemeanor Citations:              4 1 – DUI 1 – Driving Under Suspension 2 - No proof of insurance Traffic Citations:                       8 3 - Illegal U-turn 2 – Improper Lane Change 1 – Stop Sign Violation 1 – Expired Registration 1 – No operator’s license The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is committed to making the streets of Douglas County safer for all drivers. We strongly encourage the citizens of Douglas County to drive safely and utilize safety belts and child safety seats, as they are proven to save lives. The DCSO has zero tolerance for drunk driving.
