Crime mapping is used by analysts at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office to map, visualize, and analyze crime incident patterns. Mapping crime, using computer software known as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), allows our crime analysts to identify crime hot spots, along with other trends and patterns.
The Sheriff believes that a better informed citizenry is vital in helping to do the job of policing. Our goal is to provide citizens with valuable data that will allow them to assist Law Enforcement in reducing crime.
Our analysts have plotted recent crime data and have provided this display to give the public valuable information about where crime activity is occurring in the various neighborhoods and SID’s within the Sheriff’s jurisdiction.
